Venice Carnival 2010
When & Where The Venice Carnival occurs 11 days before Ash Wednesday and ends on Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras. Takes place in Venice, Italy. The Venice Carnival 2010 takes place from February 6th -16th.
History Carnevale di Venezia dates back to 1268, however when the Austrians took over the city celebrations were halted from 1798 until the 1930's. Then the fascists outlawed it until the 1980's.Don't Miss The masquerade ball. The Bauta is a mask which covers the whole face, with a stubborn chin line, no mouth, and lots of gilding. Other masks include Moreta, Larva. The Mascherari/Mask-makers of Venice had their own statute erected in 1436.
