When & Where Starkbierzeit occurs every St. Josephs day - 19th March in the Haidhausen and Au neighbourhood of Munich in Germany.

What to expect Three weeks of dances, parties and dressing up in Laiderhosen. It's the same as Oktoberfest in Munich but with stronger beers and less tourists.

History In English it translates as strong beer festival, people of Munich call it the "Fifth Season". It dates back hundreds of years to the Paulaner monks who brewed a beer of extra strong hops to get drunk faster...I mean to help sustain themselves throughout the fasting period of Lent.
