Rototom Sunsplash 2010 in Benicassim, Spain

So much more than just a music festival, Rototom Sunsplash is a real holiday: during the daytime, those not attending the various debates and workshops can sunbathe on the beach (900 metres away), play frisbee or football, read, chill out on a hammock or simply wander around the village mixing with a multitude of new friends.

When the sun goes down, the lights on the main stage turn on and music becomes the main focus. One by one, top artists and bands from Jamaica, Africa and Europe take to the stage and deliver unforgettable performances. When the concerts finally draw to an end, everybody wonders to either to the dancehall tent where international sound systems play until dawn, or to the various ethnic stalls, to enjoy a quieter night.

Bars and restaurants are open all day and night offering drinks and dishes from all over the world, the open-air market is bustling with reggae music and positive vibes coming from every stall. As well as records and handcrafted products, the market is also home to numerous non-profit organisations who promote their countless activities, aimed at improving living standards around the world.

Last year, the audience came from at some 106 countries around the world. The staff working at the infopoint and the internet area speak a number of languages, helping to ensure at least half of people who come from outside Italy will feel even more at home.

The 17th edition of the festival takes place from 21 to 28 August 2010, moving from its birth place in Northern Italy to a new home... Benicassim in Spain. A new location for a new adventure, with reggae, sea, sun and unity. Located between Valencia and Barcelona on the coast and boasting 300 days of sun per year Benicassim is easily accessible from all over Europe via plane, train, bus, car or boat.
