When & Where The Italian Bridge Game festival takes place on the last Sunday of June in the town of Pisa, Italy.

What to expect People dressed in 18th Century clothes lining along the Arno, with flags waving and singing of traditional songs. Then the tems get onto the bridge and try to push an 8 ton wooden block through the other team ! in an attempt to knock over their Quarter’s flag. There’s lots of cultural events on in Pisa during this festival.

History The origins of the Bridge Game date to February 1567. Much like Florence and Siena it is a local thing where all the cities quarters play off. The beef in Pisa was who had rights to the river Arno. It was originally a battle but today a push off will do.
