Humungus Fungus Festival

When & Where This festival takes place on the first weekend in August in the town of Crystal Falls in Northern Michigan, U.S.

The next Humungus Fungus Festival is August 12-15, 2010. In 2011 the festival is August 11-14.

What to expect The baking of the 'Humungus Pizza' - the world's largest mushroom pizza measuring 10ft by 10ft. Also expect a lot of mushroom and fungus parades, various competitions in volleyball, softball, horseshoes there’s also cook offs and bands playing on stage in the streets all through the festival.

The Big Fungus Festival

Where to stay Crystal Falls is a town of about 200 people and accommodation, hotels are difficult to get for the big mushroom festival so book in advance here

History An 11 ton mushroom covering 37 acres was discovered in 1988. This huge fingus is thought to be between 1500 and 10,000 years old!
