Henley Royal Regatta

When & Where The Henley Royal Regatta festival takes place on the first Wednesday – Sunday in July in the town of Henley on Thames in London , England.

What to expect It’s an old style English rowing racing competition during the day and lots of modern English partying during the night as more and more people are knocked out of the competition. The course is 2112 metres long and if you want to race you have to qualify 2 weeks in advance. Crashes on the water are not uncommon due to the slender course and amateurs are not accepted. To be honest the majority of people are spectators chilling on the banks of London’s Thames with a cool beer.

History At a public meeting in Henley town hall in 1839 Captain Edmund Gardiner proposed the traditional English rowing event to satisify people of that persuasion- also he knew it would be good for the local pubs !
