Harris Fest 2011 is a music event aimed at bringing awareness of Harris HospisCare to a new demographic and target audience.
Harris Fest 2011 takes place on Saturday 1st October as this month we celebrate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with many other hospices around the UK also organising events to raise awareness of the services they offer to their local communities.
All proceeds from this ticketed event go directly to Harris HospisCare and to maximise our fundraising efforts all participating performers have donate their talents to this help this wonderful fundraiser and play for free.
Harris HospisCare was founded in 1984 to serve the southern part of Bromley.
The original service was known as South Bromley HospisCare and in 2002 renamed Harris HospisCare in recognition of the dedicated support of Lord Harris of Peckham. In 2004 the service moved to its current site, Caritas House in Orpington.
In 2008 the service merged with St Christopher’s Hospice This development was the outcome of a longstanding professional relationship between the two organisations, sharing the same values, standards and commitment to high quality end of life care.
Harris HospisCare with St Christopher’s is an adult hospice caring for patients from the age of 18 upwards in the London Borough of Bromley.
Last year 404 new patients were referred to the home care service. The home care services operates a 24 hour visiting service, 7 days a week.
On any one day Harris HospisCare with St Christopher’s cares for around 200 people in their own home.
As well as a home care service we also run a thriving day care service and a comprehensive lymphoedema service to Bromley residents whatever the cause of their lymphoedema. The service to families and carers extends into bereavement.
Harris HospisCare is a registered charity It costs £1.5 million each year to maintain our services, with less than half of our funding from the National Health Service the balance must be raised from voluntary contributions.
Everyone is welcome at Harris HospisCare with St Christopher’s and everyone is valued - whatever their race, religion, or lifestyle.
