Glastonbury Pictures 2007Glastonbury is always the first weekend after the summer solstice. Which means it should be 27,28,29 June 2008, as 2008 is also a leap year. We'll have to hold our breath until Farmer Eavis makes his mind up ! Going to Glastonbury Music Festival ? don't forget to pack your wellies & rainmaks ! In 2007 over 700 acts played at Glastonbury on over 80 stages and the capacity expanded 177,000 people. The festival takes place in South West England at Worthy Farm between Pilton and Pylle, six miles east of the town of Glastonbury Glastonbury has been long asssociated with Glastonbury Tor in the mystical "Vale of Avalon". The area has a number of mythological and spiritual traditions. Local farmer Michael Eavis was inspired to create the Glastonbury Festival after a breathtaking preformance by Led Zepplin near Bath. Glastonbury was then referred to as the Pilton Festival.
