Father Ted Festival
in Inis Mor

Fr. Ted festival 2008 celebrates genius that was Fr. Ted. Winner of 3 BAFTA Awards and winning a nations heart. These few days are dedicated to tedantics with hilarious recreations and similar situations. There will be excellent comedy moments from guest stand-ups and maudlin moments recounting what was the Rolls Royce of Irish comedy

Where Inish Mor, off the coast of Galway in Ireland.

What A serious of events are organised to commemorate and celebrate Fr. Ted. Most events are based on events that tok place in the T.V. show.

Why It’s a few days to celebrate the greatest comedy of all time : Fr. Ted

Who Only top Fr. Ted fans will win the tickets. Event organizers limited the festival to 100 people in 2007. Inish Mor doesn’t have the capacity to hold a big festival. A large proportion of ticket sales will go towards Croi, the West of Ireland Cardiology Foundation. Dermot Morgan (the onscreen Fr. Ted) passed away in 1998 within days of filming the
very last Fr. Ted episode.

Where to stay There are plenty of nice hotels, hostels,
guesthouses & bed and breakfasts on the Aran Island Inis
Mor has lots of availability especially in Februry. But it
is a small island (population of 800 people) so always
book as early as possible.




What to wear Black shirt, with white collar & grey cardigan.
Very unassuming shoes.

Where to drink The harbour of Inis Mor has excellent bars.

What to do Lock the bathroom door when you take a bath. You never know when Fr. Stone will pop in.

Tickets €130 in 2007 with €10 going towards Croi charity.

Where to eat Tigh Joe Macs pub grub. See if they have any airplane shaped sandwiches washed down with a side of tea.

*When Google set up their European HQ in Dublin they launched www.doogle.org however after a few months of only Ted relevant search results, Google decided focus energy elsewhere..

Dangers & Annoyances Fr. Noel Furlong turning up with St. Lukes youth group and cramping your style. But seriously if you’re visiting Dun Aonghus on a windy day be careful as many people have been blown off, there have been fatalities.



Getting Around It’s a beautiful island and a car can’t do it justice. rent a bike or bring your own.

Airports Aer Arann fly to Inis Mor from Galway.

Boat Take a boat from Rosamhil in Galway. Buy tickets at the docks.

Bank/ATM Inis Mor is the only ran Island with an ATM. There is an ATM carefully crafted in a cottage near the harbour. Very original !

Weather Judging by series 2 episode 1 (when Ted, Dougal and Jack have an all expenses paid holiday in Kilkelly caravan park) there will be quite a bit of rain. February in Ireland will be cold. However it’s unpredictable regarding rain or shine.

Festival Pig Fact There is pagan settlement on Inis Mor which well know celebrities have been rumoured to frequent.
