The Dublin City Soul Festival adds a great excitment to one weekend of the year. Great Soul Musicians are flown over from the US of A to perform in some of Dublin's more intimate venues. There's a buzz in the city centre and Temple bar last year was transformed into a musical arena where all the fantastic bands were based in Ireland. And all for free!
All the different venues were posted up on the website over the internet so all info is readily available. The Soul picnic in Merrion square on Sunday to me is the highlight.
In 2009 the weather was so hot that a full day bathing in the sunshine listening to amazing live music was had by all. No one wanted to leave. There was food to buy or lots of people brought their own little picnics. The atmosphere was magic.
Do yourself a favour this year and make sure to block off that weekend in May(21st-23rd) to stick around Dublin and enjoy the Dublin City Soul Festival for free!!
