When & Where The Venice Regatta (AKA Regatta Storico): There are many regattas in Venice each year but the Regatta Storico usually occurs the first Sunday in September.What to Expect There's over a hundred regata's in the floating city of Venice during Spring and Summer time however none are more extravagant or celebrated then this. The banks of Venice's Grand Canal are filled with throngs of locals and the weather is guaranteed to be sunny.
The starting line is Castello and up to the chiesa of Santa Chiara. The boats then turn around the Paleto in a race to the finish at Ca Foscari. The Vessels are decorated in 16th Century Italian designs with locals suitably clad. At the helm of the boat is Bucintoro a place for the was then "Duke". The most popular event is the Caorline which is the mens main event.
