When & Where The Turkey Festival France is a French Festival is always in December and usually around the third weekend/ the weekend before Christmas, in the town of Licques: 25kms South of Calais.
What to expect Locally known as Fete De La Dinde: The town is overrun with turkeys. Big fat ones- it’s their big day before our big day of Christmas. The locals stand around the streets cheering on the fowl and drinking the local spirit Licquoise. This is followed by Confrerie de Licques (the town's VIPs) and then a dinner dance. There’s a Marché de Terroir which is an amazing food market an excellent place to stock up pre-Christmas.
History This Turkey and Christmas festival has been organised since the 1920’s and brings crowds of up to 5,000 people.Plan your fun this year with our Festivals Calendar 2012
