Sunsplash Reggae Festival - When & Where The Sunsplash Reggae Festival will take place in Brazil and Florida in 2010 the exact dates are to be confirmed.

What to expect Between 1978 and 1986 this Jamaican festival was the stuff of legend. Today it stages mostly the best in Jamaican Reggae today. There's also dance-hall music and ska music. Some reggae fans believe the festival has lost some of it's allure as it moves to Brasil and Florida in 2010 and will probably include non-reggae acts like Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz and No Doubt.

Festival History

Reggae Sunsplash festival was staged at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, Jamaica June 1978. It began at dusk and continued until dawn for seven days, billed as the "biggest Reggae festival in the history of the world". The festival introduced the concept of music and travel as a boost to tourism in Jamaica. Prior to the staging of Reggae Sunsplash, the hotels in Jamaica were traditionally closed during the summer period.
