When & Where The Noantri Festival Rome is a traditional Italian Festival takes place the first Saturday after 16th July in the Trastevere area of Rome in Italy. The festival lasts eight days. What to Expect Dancing at night in the squares following the Procession of the Madonna del Carmine with the really heavy baldaquin , this takes place in one of the oldest quarters in Rome: Trastevere. Noantri Festival Rome is opened by a giant cross, which is followed by different brotherhoods in medieval clothing with their flag hoisted hgh above their head. Arciconfraternita di S. Maria dell'Orto is Trasteveres local and favoured brotherhood. The procession lasts a couple of hours because as the statue of Madonna is brought to most of the churches of Trastevere including: S. Maria della Luce, S. Giovanni Battista dei Genovesi, S. Maria dell'Orto, S. Francesco a Ripa and S. Pasquale. Eventually the Madonna de Noantri is moved by another procession on the Tiber river to S. Maria in Trastevere Porto di Ripetta and finishes at Villa Giulia, Of course not everyone visiting Rome has a boat but the bridges are a great place to witness this celebration.
