 When & Where Near-Death-Festival-Spain usually takes place on July 29th in the town of Las Nieves, Pontevedra in Galicia; Spain. Anyone who has had a near-death experience climbs into a coffin which is then brought to the church Santa Marta De Ribarteme. If someone is lacking in coffin-bearers they must shoulder their own coffin. After visiting the cemetary (without losing any participants) the Spanish mob returns to the church where a statue of Santa Marta is produced and worshipped.
