National Winter Ales

When & Where The Winter Ales Festival usually occurs the third week in January: in 2009 it's the 21st-24th January at the New Century Hall in Manchester England.

What to expect Ales and stouts are the main focus of this beer festival. However there is also a selsction of over 200 British and international beers: Wheat Beers from Bavaria, Smoked Beers, Bock Beers, Lambic fruit beers (Kriek, Frambozen, Cassis & Peche), Blonde Ales like Duvel, Trappist Ales and basically any beer that is brewed around Christmas.

Getting there Fly into Manchester or go by rail to Victoria Station.

Manchester Ales Festival

Entertainment Guitar legend Frank White will open the beer festival on Wednesday night. Whilst, Dr Busker, an English eccentric who normally plays with his band "Dr Busker and the Dorset Rats" will close the celebrations out in Saturday. Dr Busker have made quite a reputation at beer festivals for their lewd lyrics, Irish music and funny anecdotes. Saturday is usually a pirate theme fancy dress.
