History of Melbourne Cup Carnaval

This Melbourne festival was originally the Victoria Turf Club created in the 1861 to rival it’s counterpart, the Victoria Jockey Club. Thanks to Captain Frederick Standish, one time VRC Chairman and former Chief Commissioner of Police in Victoria.
