Haad Rin Beach Bars

Full Moon Party as taken by richroundtheworld on Flickr.comWhy not check out all the bars at the Full Moon Party - each serves a different purpose. The most popular are the Drop-In Bar and Cactus Bar with drinks promotions and great fire shows. They play music from the charts, R&B and club classics.

Other Haad Rin bars like Vinyl Club, Zoom play psytrance. The Orchid plays Drum & Bass and Jungle whilst the Boom Boom Bar has hardcore house and trance music.

Outback Bar located in the town is a good starting point for any night out popular where a mix of European, American, Australian, and Thai foods are served in a relaxed environment.

The Floating Bar was around for some parties serving fresh caught crab and oyster.

Expect Up to 30,000 people at the Full Moon Parties, awesome djs, random scoring, body paint, glow sticks, tasty buckets (Samsong) and of course the world famous 'Shroom Shakes.

Full Moon Party Music

Full-on psy-trance is everywhere at the Full Moon Fest as these were the notes of choice in the 1980's when the party started snowballing.

Koh Phangan Accommodation

Full Moon Accommodation There is enough for 3000 people on the island of Koh Phangan so book or arrive there early.

Full Moon Party Thailand You can also go to the island by boat from Surat Thani on the mainland or else take a boat 'taxi' from the island of Koh Samui.

Full Moon Hotels in Koh Phangan

Getting to Thailands Full Moon Festival Book a flight into Bangkok international airport here then you can take a domestic flight to Ko Samu and then take a ferry to Koh Phangan.

You can also get a great bus service from Bangkok, Phuket and most tourist spots which will drop you off at Surat Thani (สุราษฎร์ธานี to the Thai people :) which has a ferry service to Ko Samui & Koh Phangan.

Full Moon Dangers

Full Moon Party at night as taken by dav on Flickr.comWet Blanket Festivalpig doesn't want to put a wet blanket on what is an awesome night (and possibly week if done right:) but there are some things to be careful about at the Full Moon Festival..

1. Police will have random roadblocks up between Thong Sala and Haad Rin, if you get caught with drugs (they can demand urine tests) you could be sent to prison in Surat Thani. The risk is too great for a foreigner as Thailand have harsh drug laws hence at best you will pay a very hefty bribe.

2. DON'T accept drinks from strangers - there have been stories through the years of acid and other substances being passed on unsuspecting people leading to robberies & rapes.

3. Beach vendors may make you a bucket but look close and you might notice the small bottles they open are not sealed- you can't tell what they are thus giving you so demand a sealed bottle or walk.

4. Don't get aggressive with locals (especially if your planning on partying hard) as they will outnumber you.

That's enough- remember this is a great party with excellent music and feel-good factor all around but remember to be observe sensible travel etiquette. In fact if you are feeling ok the next day why not help locals clean up the beach
