When & Where The Copenhagen Carnaval usually takes place on Whitsun weekend, usually falls at the end of May/start of June, in Denmark’s Capital City of Copenhagen.
In 2011 the dates are 10th-12th June.
What to Expect Nearly 200,000 onlookers & participants, when I was there every world beater event was free - my sources tell me nothing has changed. There's lots of Samba schools, salsa workshops and drum beating street performers. There’s also lots of music tents at the parks around Copenhagen featuring Latin sounds from Caribbean Rumba to Buenos Aires Tango.
Copenhagen Carnival is an intercultural carnival, where different cultures will be presented on following 5 stages: Open air, Folklore, Urban, Dance, The stage of our culture. For those who prefer electro music, the best Electro stage in Denmark will be represented this year again. We also have a Kids stage, where children and their parents can participate in different workshops.
