Camel Cup AustraliaWhen & Where The Camel Cup Australia is an Australian festival which usually takes place at Blatherskite Park in the town of Blatherskite in Alice Springs, The Northern Territory of Australia.

It usually takes place mid-July and the next Camel races are July 10th 2010 and HEY its the 40th anniversary !

What to Expect Pretty Camel competition, a Miss & Mr. Camel Cup Challenge for aspiring couples, Arabic music surrounded by sweet bellydancers, rickshaw rallies. There are lots of contests and of course the most attractive accolade remains the Imparja Gong.

History of the Camel Cup

History

This festival commemorates the industrious Afghans who built telegraph and railway infrastructure but more importantly brought their traditions including the essential camel racing.

Camel races originally took place on the dried riverbed of the river Todd when founded in 1970.
