Jidai Matsuri - When & Where Ages Festival Japan is an Asian festival which takes place Kyoto Gosho in Kyoto Japan around the third week in October. This Japanese festival should be taking place on October 22nd in 2010.

What to Expect This festival has a parade in which people dress in traditional clothes dating back to the 7thC AD. Shrines of all the emperors of Japan are paraded around from the Imperial Palace-Kyoto Gosho through Kyoto. It takes hours for the parade to pass a few kilometres but this serves as an excellent lesson in Japans history.

This Japanese Festival was first held in 1895 to help Kyoto recover from the moving of the Imperial court to Tokyo.
